International day of Women and Girls in Science: meet the InnovaXN female scientists!

On 22 December 2015, the Unesco General Assembly decided to establish an annual International Day to recognize the critical role women and girls play in science and technology.

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated on 11 February, is implemented by UNESCO and UN-Women, in collaboration with institutions and civil society partners that aim to promote women and girls in science. This Day is an opportunity to promote full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls. Gender equality is a global priority for UNESCO, and the support of young girls, their education and their full ability to make their ideas heard are levers for development and peace.

On this important occasion, a special thought goes to the 20 young female scientists of our PhD program!

InnovaXN promotes full and equal access to and participation in science for women, with the aim to:

♦ Support them with their projects, goals, and future achievements;
♦ Offer them an advanced level of knowledge and skill in their chosen field;
♦ Bridging university and future employment, by making this change easier and smoother;
♦ Keep on inspiring a new generation of young females to pursue science-related careers.

To our PhD students and all the amazing scientists around the world, who constantly make incredible strides in their fields, Happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science!
