A virtual welcome to all students

The virtual welcome day for students was a success

On Friday 30 October, students, recruitment advisory board members, industrial and academic supervisors all gathered together through a virtual meeting.

The programme overview was presented by Jean Susini and Mark Johnson, co-directors of the programme. After that, the students presented themselves and the industry driven scientific project they are working on. Indeed, this was a fantastic way to start their 3-year PhD training experience. They expressed great enthusiasm about their participation in InnovaXN programme. Emphasising how pleased they are to work with the advanced techniques at ILL and ESRF, and spending time with their industry partner.

First round PhD students gathered for the welcome day

A good start to the programme

All the InnovaXN research projects have challenging applied science subjects. In addition, excellent students have been selected to advance these projects using the state-of-the-art facilities at the ESRF and ILL” Mark Johnson programme director.

It was an opportunity for InnovaXN’s management team, supervisors and members of the Recruitment Advisory Board to meet with the 15 students. In particular, discovering students of 11 nationalities and see the impressive quality of the students recruited for round one projects.

The call for applications will be launched in February 2021 for students to participate in the second round of projects. Then, the 20 students recruited for the second call will start in September 2021.
