A virtual welcome to all students
The virtual welcome day for students was a success
On Friday 30 October, students, Recruitment Advisory Board members, industrial and academic supervisors gathered together through a virtual meeting.
After the programme overview presented by Jean Susini and Mark Johnson, co-directors of the programme, the students presented themselves and the industry driven scientific project they are working on. This was a fantastic way to start their 3-year PhD training experience. They expressed great enthusiasm about their participation in InnovaXN programme and how pleased they are to work with the advanced techniques at ILL and ESRF, as well as to spend time with their industry partner.
“We are delighted to welcome our first cohort of students to the InnovaXN programme, and to see them starting their exciting research projects with our many industry and academic partners.”Jean Susini programme director
“All the InnovaXN research projects have challenging applied science subjects, and excellent students have been selected to advance these projects using the state-of-the-art facilities at the ESRF and ILL” Mark Johnson programme director.
It was an opportunity for InnovaXN’s management team, supervisors and members of the Recruitment Advisory Board to meet with the 15 students of 11 nationalities and see the impressive quality of the students recruited for the round one projects.
The call for applications will be launched on 1 February 2021 for 20 PhD students to participate in the second round of projects.
